January 2009
Dear LAMA Partners:
This is going to be an awesome year when we experience anew the Supernatural power of God at work in multifaceted ways. I remember reading the book, If You Want to Walk on Water, You Have to Get out of the Boat, and friends, all of us will be walking on water this year as we all will be forced to get out of the boat! However, the key is to keep our eyes on the Master. This will be crucial to our success or failure.
Here are some exciting things happening in 2009:
- This last week 200 teenagers had an unforgettable week at La Montana Christian Camps. When they were confronted with the Gospel, 100 of them walked to the front of the chapel and trusted Jesus as their Savior and Lord. This is Supernatural!
As our summer camping season continues we anticipate more of the same.
- Eight years ago we held our first camping season with 1,700 campers and a small staff. Today we have 30 full time staff, 50 volunteers, 9000 campers in 2008 and a ministry totally self-supporting. This is Supernatural!
- Latin America Assistance was incorporated in Santa Barbara, California in 1976. Today we have an outstanding Board of Directors and offices in Costa Rica and California. This year we pass the Torch to a new generation as Joe & Lori assume the responsibilities of an expanding vision. This is Supernatural!
- The housing demand for small groups was so great last year that the Board of Directors has approved the construction of two 80-camper lodges to meet this need. Each Lodge will add 3,000 campers per year. The cost for both is $877,000. This will take a Supernatural provision!
- This June Clara and I celebrate our 50th anniversary. Praise God for His faithfulness. Our life together has been Supernatural!
Your prayers and faithful financial support during our 45 years in Latin America has been a Supernatural support . Thank you for your prayers, patience, faithfulness and love during these glorious years. God bless you as you experience a HAPPY NEW YEAR in the Lord.
For the youth of Latin America,
Joseph B. Pent
