Youth Camps:
At La Montaña Christian Camps, our primary focus and passion is young people from the ages of 12-18 years of age. These young people come from Churches and private and public schools both in the large metropolitan area as well as the provinces of Costa Rica.
We are increasingly being sought out to offer spiritual retreats for schools as a part of their religious program. This is an exciting opportunity as it gives us the opportunity to evangelize a "captive audience" as a part of their yearly school curriculum! In other words, on the school's time, we are preaching the Good News of Jesus to their students!
Other outreaches and partnerships throughout the year include youth pastor retreats and conferences, alliances with ministries like Focus on the Family, FUNDAVIDA and Full Gospel Men’s Fellowship, among others.
At the heart of our vision are the ties that we seek to have with local churches and ministries around Costa Rica. With this important alliance, the camp experience is further maximized with a definite follow-up for each young person.
Adult Camps and retreats:
We have had opportunities to host various men's and women's conferences, pastors and teachers retreats, and even a few family camps. These camps form a minority; these groups have come to value the beauty of our surroundings as well as the excellent facilities and programs that we offer. In October 2007, we are scheduled to host our first Father/Son and Mother/Daughter retreats.
This further widens the open door the outreach of
La Montana.
Seminars and training clinics:
La Montaña Christian Camps offers a diverse and excellent conference ground and our facilities are uniquely suited for all types of seminars. Each year we host a variety of adult and youth conferences including 2 youth pastor conferences, men’s and women’s conferences, youth training seminars and a variety of church run training programs throughout the year.
Wilderness and Science Camps:
Expeditions was built and completed in 2006 and we are currently developing a strong curriculum and promotional package to make this exciting program available to churches around the country. With a capacity of up to 20 people, our new base camp offers an exciting adventure: hammocks for sleeping, times for sharing in the Word, cooking over a campfire and hikes through the forest.
Timothy Institute:
Our Timothy Institute programs run throughout the year and reach youth leaders with cutting edge instruction and materials aimed at better equipping them to serve in youth ministries across the country. We also use the Timothy lodge for church staff retreats and individual pastor getaways.
Expeditions:
Our Expeditions programs are in their infancy stages but soon will run throughout the year. This “survival” backpacking model targets a youth ministry’s key leaders and takes them on a life-transforming trip into the heart of the cloud forest to spend 3 days and 2 nights in a team building and discipleship program.
Outdoor Science School
(Coming soon to La Montaña) Because of our strategic location in one of the most bio-diverse areas of the planet, we believe the study of nature and creation to be an effective tool in evangelizing young people and children about the reality of the “Creator God.” The Bible says in Romans 1:20, “For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.”
As the Lord provides the right personnel for this upcoming ministry, we will be developing a small museum, butterfly farm and a variety of other visual tools that will enable us to be one of the premier Biblically-focused science experiences for children in the country!
Other Camps:
Part of our master plan and global calling is the building of more camping venues in Costa Rica and around Central America and the Caribbean. Here are some of the countries and opportunities that we are considering for future development:
- Costa Rica Surf Camp – we are presently considering some very good land options on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. We are looking at properties in Play Grande, Playa Guiones, as well as a variety of other excellent surf areas along the coast.
- Cuba – dad need to write a short blip on this one
Those countries not yet defined or developed but are on our minds for future possibilities:
- Nicaragua
- Belize
- El Salvador
- Honduras
- Guatemala
- Dominican Republic
- Panama
